Over time, Kapsabet developed as a small but important town in the Nandi region, with agriculture (especially tea, maize, dairy) as its economic backbone.
Education played a strong role: for example, Kapsabet High School was established in 1925 (then called the Government African School). Water infrastructure was also built gradually: according to a JICA (Japan) report, Kapsabet’s water supply facility dates back several decades, though the system had limitations (e.g. capacity issues).
In 2018, Kapsabet was officially conferred municipal status. This was done through a Municipality Charter granted by the Nandi County Governor.
The Integrated Development Plan (IDeP) for 2020–2024 was developed to guide the growth and investment in the municipality, focusing on roads, environmental concerns, housing, commerce, and more.
